We plan to assemble here a bibliography of scholarly writings about theory and analysis in Europe.
A complementary project in preparation, by our friends of HarMA, concerns European pedagogical works in the fields of Harmony and Music Analysis.
Between scholarly and pedagogical writings, all writings about Western music theory before some point in the 18th century must be European. Our project will be more specifically concerned with scholarly theory, within a large temporal frame.
We won’t try to enter in competition with existing websites proposing facsimiles and/or transcriptions of historical writings, however: a page of links to these websites is proposed hereby.
For the time being, we propose a list of European journals online.
